September Counterfeit Kits--Challenge #1
This month, I am so excited to be joining the amazing team from the Counterfeit Kit Challenge as both the curator of a personalized kit just for them as well as guest designer for the month. The first challenge this month asked us to dig a little deeper into the meaning of curate and use that definition to inspire a project. According to the dictionary, here is what we found:
curate. verb (used with object), cu·rat·ed, cu·rat·ing.
to take charge of (a museum) or organize (an art exhibit)
to pull together, sift through, and select for presentation, as music or website content
This definition immediately sparked an idea for a layout revolving around the idea of a gallery wall. Just like the custom kits I curate, a gallery wall is a collection of original pieces and touches with meaning and significance to the family, topic, or theme of the display. Here is the gallery wall example that I found on Pinterest that I chose to use as inspiration for my piece:
I loved the different use of textures as well as the mixture of images and text and thought that it would be a perfect fit with the kit that I designed for this month. It was also a perfect fit with the photo that I wanted to use of my son on a recent camping trip. I used only the things that I had previously added to my kit for this month and then made sure to include stamping, hand stitching, jute twine, and dimensional adhesive as ways to carry this texture and gallery wall feel throughout my layout.
If you want to see more about how this layout came together, make sure to head over to my You Tube channel and check out the process video for this layout. I cannot wait to see what you come up with for this challenge!
